4 Aweber Alternatives for 2019

by Josh Biggs in Marketing on 21st March 2019

Aweber has retained its reputation as one of the best email marketing apps for over two decades. Indeed, its easy-to-use interface makes it a popular choice for newbies and people who aren’t too tech-savvy. However, so many email marketing tools have been developed over the years and many of them offer more features, sometimes for a lower fee.

If you’re ready for the next level in your ecommerce marketing campaigns or if you’re a newbie who wants to begin on a platform your business won’t outgrow, it’s time for you to find an alternative to Aweber. Thankfully, there are quite a few options for you to choose from.

1. Omnisend

Omnisend is commonly referred to as an email marketing tool but it’s actually an entire omnichannel marketing automation platform. It has features to assist you in every step of your marketing process (opt-in, segmentation, send-out, and retention).

But, where Omnisend really stands out is its integration with a variety of different channels that, if used correctly, can really provide your customers a whole new level of experience with your brand. Apart from email, Omnisend allows you to integrate SMS, Facebook Messenger, Whatsapp, and Viber. It’s also available for Google & Facebook Custom Audiences as well as web push notifications.

For the same 500-subscriber limit of Aweber’s entry-level plan, the monthly cost of Omnisend is lower at $13 when paid annually. That allows you to send up to 15,000 emails per month and get access to useful features like automation workflows as well as interactive email elements and sign up forms.

2. Mailchimp

Mailchimp is a newbie-friendly tool that’s actually pretty powerful for email marketing. The problem is that it’s really limited to email. There’s not much there to support the needs of an entire ecommerce platform.

Nevertheless, marketers looking to focus their efforts on email will be pleased with their easy-to-use composer and automated email workflows. They also have advanced segmentation options, email personalization, and a variety of opt-in formats.

One of the biggest reasons why Mailchimp is so popular among beginner marketers is because it offers a free tier. Although the features are limited and access to support is only available during the first 30 days, this tier allows up to 2,000 subscribers. Once you outgrow that limit, paid options with unlimited subscribers start at $10.

3. Klaviyo

Like Omnisend, Klaviyo is pretty advanced and is a great option for ecommerce. The user interface is pretty straightforward and it offers awesome features like customizable templates, advanced segmentation, and innovative email capture options. It also allows integration with Facebook custom audiences. Unlike Omnisend, however, Klaviyo is strictly limited to email.

Klaviyo offers a free tier as well. However, it is limited to only 250 subscribers and 500 send-outs. That might be enough to get a good feel for the tool but maybe not enough to really appreciate its value. Once you get to the 500-subscriber limit similar to Aweber and Omnisend, the cost will total $25 per month.

4. Sendinblue

Sendinblue is a pretty popular option because it allows SMS integration and has pretty good automation workflows. It also has a responsive email designer as well as a number of email templates to choose from. And, when you’re ready to upgrade to their premium packages, you’ll be able to enjoy their awesome reporting features.

Sendinblue’s free tier allows unlimited subscribers but limits send-outs to 300 emails a day. This is perfectly workable for beginners. The features available to free-tier customers might also be enough. However, it requires you to use the Sendinblue logo in all your emails. To remove that and access other premium features, you’ll need to sign up for their Essential package, which costs $39 per month.

When looking for an alternative to Aweber, it’s important to compare not just the price but the features as well. Consider how powerful each tool is and determine how you’ll be able to harness that power to develop an equally powerful marketing campaign. Furthermore, make sure the tool you select won’t hinder the growth of your business. You’ll want to choose one that can significantly contribute to your company’s efficiency and, most importantly, sales.
