By properly onboarding new employees, you set them up for success right from the start. But what does that actually mean? It means helping them feel at home in their new work environment and making sure they feel supported and have all the information they need to succeed at their job from day one (and beyond). In fact, a recent survey found that companies who invest time and resources into employee onboarding see higher rates of long-term employee retention and engagement than those who don’t take this time investment seriously. So, here are five tips on how to properly onboard new employees.

1) Take note of each individual

Take note of each individual.  Get to know the employee on a personal level before they start working, as this will make them feel more comfortable and valued in their new position. Communicate with the new hire to find out what they are looking forward to, what they’re nervous about, and what skills they have that might be applicable in your company. Be open and flexible about work hours if you can to accommodate for the new employee’s schedule so that it does not conflict with their other obligations outside of work.

2) Create an effective schedule

Create an effective schedule.  When onboarding new employees, you want to set up a system that helps them know what they should be doing every day. Get creative with your approach, and think about what is going to work best for the company and the new employee! Each morning, show the new employee how to complete their task list on the whiteboard in their office before starting work.

3) Set up a buddy system

Set up a buddy system.  You can assign each new employee to be paired with an employee who is already established in the company. You can have this person show the new employee around, answer questions and show them how to do things like clock in and out on their computer.

4) Evaluate their strengths and weaknesses

It’s important to get to know your new employees and understand their strengths and weaknesses. This will help you determine how best to utilize their skills and where they may need additional training. Whenever the employees uses his or her strength to achieve a great feat, do not hesitate to gift and encourage such employee with a gift, e.g: a beautiful moissanite stud earrings

5) Set them up for success

Set them up for success.  During the onboarding process, it is important to not only teach new employees the company’s culture and values, but also show them what success looks like in your company. Create opportunities to provide tangible examples of your company’s goals and showcase how these are achieved on a day-to-day basis.


In conclusion, onboarding new employees is a crucial first step in their journey with your company. It is important to make sure that they are clear on what is expected of them and have the resources they need to succeed. The last thing you want is an employee who is not committed or engaged.
