Platforms such as Spotify or iTunes – Top Reggaeton Singers That We All Adore

by Josh Biggs in Tips on 15th June 2022

Reggeaton began as a phenomenon that existed only in the shadows in the poor neighborhoods of Puerto Rico and Panama.

The absolute uproar didn’t start until 2000 when some songs shot into popularity overnight. The rhythm of those songs made its way into the ears of the most varied audience possible, mesmerizing some and piercing others.

At first, reggeaton was a variant of reggae and rap, which was performed in the Spanish language, though later, this rhythm was added to reggeaton, and that’s how it was born.

Reggaeton is becoming the most famous music genre in recent years, and that is because it is intended to be danced with beats that can’t keep us sitting.

However, not all of the reggeaton musicians stole our hearts, though some are literally killing the floor, and we adore them!

Bad Bunny

This reggaeton king has made significant contributions to Latin and urban music with his unique performances, achieving milestones along the way. Proof of that is the Bad Bunny setlist tour 2022 as the most searched one on Google.

Some of his songs have already been at number one on the Billboard 200 chart, which shows that he became quite popular.

Reggeaton is the genre that is listened to the most worldwide, and its greatest exponent is this Puerto Rican singer, who has remained for two years in a row as the artist with the most reproductions on platforms such as Spotify and iTunes. This is even though many music experts find it difficult to accept that reggeaton is shaking the world right now!

Daddy Yankee

Spotify has also announced that another Puerto Rican singer is breaking records with his songs, and that is the famous Daddy Yankee, who you probably first heard at some summer party. Now his music accompanies you in every season and for many different occasions.

Daddy Yankee, whose real name is Ramon Luis Ayala Rodriguez, and who is also known by his other stage name ‘’The Big Boss’’, in 2020 and 2021 was ranked in the top 3 list, which places him above other Latin music superstars such as Enrique Iglesias, Shakira, and Pitbull.

He got the inspiration for his name from the rapper Big Daddy Kane, and now Daddy Yankee is the one who is inspiring many new musicians that are following the same career path.

Ozuna

Ozuna is a name that became famous in a very short period. His rhythms, lyrics, and video clips have accompanied many of you and us in sad and happy moments, at concerts, or dancing at home, and it’s something that inspires him to keep on going and producing such great urban music.

When he was only 12 years old, he started writing music in his house, and after that, he didn’t stop. In 2014 he got his first contract, and he did a video clip for Youtube, which gained him a lot of fame!

J Balvin

J Balvin Jose Alvaro Osorio Balvin, known as J Balvin was born in Colombia and is a musician who performs urban music with a touch of reggaeton.

While attending secondary school in Medellin, he was active in rock bands there. In order to participate in cultural exchange, he went to the United States, and it was there that he became fluent in the English language and was exposed to hip hop for the first time, a musical genre that would forever alter his perspective on music.

It was the seventh semester of his International Business degree at Eafit University when he decided to leave his studies and devote himself entirely to a career as a musician. He started his career as a professional musician in the year 2008 when he performed on the same stage as 50 Cent.

Over the years he has developed a lot he is eventually expanding his repertoire to include bachata, salsa, and bolero.

Maluma

Maluma is a handsome Colombian musician with a fantastic voice and is considered one of the celebrities that have captured many women’s hearts and attention in many Latin countries such as Mexico, Argentina, and of course worldwide.

Nowadays, he is among the most successful singers in the urban genre, and even though he adores music, it was not his biggest dream during his childhood. When he was a child, he wanted to be a football player, though after he performed in a school competition for singing, something awoke in him that he is the path he should follow. And here he is today. Stealing hearts and stages all over the world.

The Bottom Line

Many people adore reggeaton, especially Latin people because dancing is in their genes. They successfully exported that to other countries around the world and made us all obsessed with its exotic and attractive rhythms.
